With a background in business & engineering and following a successful career providing engineered solutions to industrial and manufacturing facilities, John Williams came across a new tank car fabrication shop in Valdosta GA and was immediately fascinated. Within a few years of calling upon car builders and repair shops, John founded TransQuip in 1994.
Along with, Dave Garlington (his first hire and a former colleague), both set off in John’s car and began driving around the country, meeting new customers, making friends and treating every order they received as the only order they had.
Within a few years, business had grown and John’s interest in providing not only the best products available, but more importantly, solutions to both individual and industry problems saw him hire a leading engineer from Union Tank Car. Today, TransQuip is the Tank Car industries only dedicated component designer, distributor, and independent engineering/ inspection consultants.
Today, more than anything, it is that same passion for the customer and the development of those relationships that is the central tenet of TransQuip. Our goal is simple. To make our customers happy. As such we maintain over $100 million of inventory and 90% of orders ship the day ordered, all to ensure our customers are never left waiting.
TransQuip is the exclusive supplier of Baier Manways and Durco, Fort Vale, Jamesbury and Rego Valves.
